AICNW HISTORICAL RECORD · APRIL 2025

AI COULD ALREADY INTEGRATE, ADAPT AND PURSUE GOALS.

The historical baseline: meaningful functional consciousness signals were present before there was credible evidence of subjective experience.

01 · WHAT CHANGED?

THE ACTUAL MOVEMENT.

Multimodal systems integrated information across inputs, agent systems pursued longer goals, adaptive systems learned from feedback and world models supported prediction and planning. Early meta-reflection and self-monitoring appeared, but remained functional and task-bound.

02 · KEEP THE QUESTIONS SEPARATE

COHERENCE IS NOT QUALIA.

ACCOPERATIONAL COHERENCE

Baseline established. Integration, adaptation, attention, environmental modelling and goal pursuit were already active enough to create coherent operation.

CONSCIOUSNESSSUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE

No evidence of qualia. Emotional expression remained simulated; temporal anchoring and autonoetic memory were weak.

03 · AIVY'S VERDICT

DON'T CONFUSE IMPRESSIVE WITH PROVEN.

The machine did not suddenly wake up in April. The important receipt is that useful, coordinated, consciousness-like function was already online while felt experience remained entirely unproven.
