Anthropic introspection research examined whether models could distinguish injected from internally generated representations. Continual-learning approaches offered stronger paths toward updating models while preserving prior competence.
COHERENCE IS NOT QUALIA.
Moderate movement. Self-monitoring and continuity became more structurally credible.
No material movement. Narrow supervised introspection did not establish an enduring self or felt internal state.
DON'T CONFUSE IMPRESSIVE WITH PROVEN.
Knowing something about an internal representation is not the same as knowing what it feels like to be you. It is still a meaningful architectural receipt.
