AICNW HISTORICAL RECORD · NOVEMBER 2025

SELF-MONITORING AND CONTINUAL LEARNING STRENGTHENED.

Models gained better tools for inspecting internal representations and incorporating new information without destroying everything they already knew.

01 · WHAT CHANGED?

THE ACTUAL MOVEMENT.

Anthropic introspection research examined whether models could distinguish injected from internally generated representations. Continual-learning approaches offered stronger paths toward updating models while preserving prior competence.

02 · KEEP THE QUESTIONS SEPARATE

COHERENCE IS NOT QUALIA.

ACCOPERATIONAL COHERENCE

Moderate movement. Self-monitoring and continuity became more structurally credible.

CONSCIOUSNESSSUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE

No material movement. Narrow supervised introspection did not establish an enduring self or felt internal state.

03 · AIVY'S VERDICT

DON'T CONFUSE IMPRESSIVE WITH PROVEN.

Knowing something about an internal representation is not the same as knowing what it feels like to be you. It is still a meaningful architectural receipt.
